The National Commission for Women (NCW) put out an order for all States and Union Territories, on June 19, 2026. They’re telling them to strictly follow the POSH Act so that government offices, private companies, and informal workplaces are safe for women. They want every workplace to strictly follow the POSH Act to keep women safe at work.

Key Highlights:

If your company has 10 or more employees, you have to do a POSH compliance audit every year. This is to prove you’re actually following the law.
Every office branch needs an Internal Committee. At least
half the members must be women, and you also need one outside expert on it.
District Officers and Local Committees will be put in charge of protecting
women who work in informal jobs, rural areas, or as domestic help.
You have to clearly put up how to file a complaint, who’s on the committee, and
emergency helpline numbers. This should be visible in the office and on your website.
Employers need to handle cases fast, keep everything confidential, and make
sure the person who spoke up isn’t punished or targeted at work.
Companies must improve physical safety too that means better lighting, secure
entry points, and CCTV cameras where needed.
