Minimum Wages of Andaman and Nicobar Islands
The Andaman & Nicobar Administration, through Order No. 229 issued by the Office of the Labour Commissioner on 29th July, 2026, has declared the revised minimum rates of wages applicable across the Union Territory, effective from 1st July, 2026.

Employment Categories & Additional Benefits
Unskilled:Workers who have at least one year experience in the trade, able to do repetitive work or simple jobs using simple tools or machines
Semi-skilled:Workers who have at least one year experience in the trade, able to do repetitive work or simple jobs using simple tools or machines
Skilled:Workers who perform tasks requiring specialized skills, training or technical ability; they are more independent in their work (beyond just repeating simple tasks)
Highly Skilled:Workers with advanced technical knowledge, supervisory or managerial roles, or highly specialized competence (engineers, senior supervisors, etc.)
Penalty & Compensation for paying less than Minimum Wages
Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or 6 months imprisonment or both
Compensation:Up to ten times the difference between the prescribed minimum wage and the wage actually paid.
