Minimum Wages of Dadra and Nagar Haveli

The UT Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Department of Labour & Employment, has officially issued Notification No. LE/LI/DMN/MWA-3(11)/2025/88 dated May 9, 2025, declaring a hike in the Special Allowance under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. The effective date of this order is April 1, 2025 (01.04.2025). As per the directive signed by Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Labour) S Asker Ali, IAS, the daily rate of Special Allowance has been increased by ₹10.50 per day due to cost-of-living index adjustments. Consequently, the new revised total minimum wages per day are ₹486.50 for Unskilled workers (₹441.00 Basic + ₹45.50 Special Allowance), ₹497.50 for Semi-Skilled workers (₹452.00 Basic + ₹45.50 Special Allowance), and ₹507.50 for Skilled workers (₹462.00 Basic + ₹45.50 Special Allowance). All industrial establishments and employers are legally mandated to implement these rates, ensure the payment of back-dated arrears starting from April 1, 2025, and maintain higher wage structures if they are already in place. Monthly wages must be calculated by multiplying the daily rate by 26 days.

Employment Categories & Additional Benefits
Unskilled:Workers who have at least one year experience in the trade, able to do repetitive work or simple jobs using simple tools or machines
Semi-skilled:Workers who have at least one year experience in the trade, able to do repetitive work or simple jobs using simple tools or machines
Skilled:Workers who perform tasks requiring specialized skills, training or technical ability; they are more independent in their work (beyond just repeating simple tasks)
Highly Skilled:Workers with advanced technical knowledge, supervisory or managerial roles, or highly specialized competence (engineers, senior supervisors, etc.)
Penalty & Compensation for paying less than Minimum Wages
Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or up to 6 months imprisonment or both.
Compensation:Up to ten times the difference between the prescribed minimum wage and the wage actually paid.
