Minimum Wages of Gujarat
The Labor, Skill Development & Employment Department, Government of Gujarat, has updated the minimum wages and Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) across 46 scheduled employments, shops, and commercial establishments. The updated rates became effective on April 1, 2026, and will remain active until September 30, 2026. The latest revision includes a VDA hike of ₹12.00 per day, raising the uniform daily VDA from ₹48.50 to ₹60.50 per day across all worker categories and regional zones.

Employment Categories & Additional Benefits
Unskilled:Workers who have at least one year experience in the trade, able to do repetitive work or simple jobs using simple tools or machines
Semi-skilled:Workers who have at least one year experience in the trade, able to do repetitive work or simple jobs using simple tools or machines
Skilled:Workers who perform tasks requiring specialized skills, training or technical ability; they are more independent in their work (beyond just repeating simple tasks)
Penalty & Compensation for paying less than Minimum Wages
Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or 6 months imprisonment or both
Compensation:Up to ten times the difference between the prescribed minimum wage and the wage actually paid.
