The Department of Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development, Government of Jharkhand has issued a notification (reference No. 2/MW-2071/2010 (Part-3) Shra.Ni./1603), dated 15 October 2026, from the Office of the Labour Commissioner, Ranchi, signed by the Under Secretary by order of the Governor. Under section 6 of the Code on Wages, 2019, it declares the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) on the minimum wage rates for all employments, based on the average consumer price index for January to June 2026. The all-India CPI (2016=100) averaged 149.8, which converts to 431 on the old 2001=100 series, a rise of 45 points (11.65%) over the 386 index on which the basic rates were fixed. The revised rates, including VDA, are payable from 1 October 2026.
