Minimum Wages of Maharashtra
The Office of the Commissioner of Labour, Maharashtra ("Labour Bhavan", Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai) has officially released the revised minimum wages framework under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. Issued under Notification No. R.D. / M.W.A. / S.A. / Jan-June / 2026(1) / Desk-10 / 78-79 (Index 543-550), the effective date spans from 01.01.2026 to 30.06.2026. This regulatory update establishes the updated basic rates and special allowances (Variable Dearness Allowance) across 66 scheduled industries—including legal firms, engineering factories, hospitals, and bakeries—categorized cleanly into Zone 1, Zone 2, and Zone 3 for skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled labor classes.

Description:It is to guarantee that workers in scheduled jobs are paid a fair minimum wage, avoid exploitation, and maintain a minimal standard of living.
Applicability:It covers all Maharashtra scheduled jobs even it every employee, contract labourer and labourers. It relates to government buildings, local governments, mines, factories, and other scheduled industries. It does not include members of the armed forces

Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or 6 months imprisonment or both
