The Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Government of Meghalaya, has issued Notification No. LE&SD.9/2023/Pt/26, revising the state's minimum wages under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, with retrospective effect from 1st April, 2026.
Released from Shillong by Principal Secretary Shri F.R. Kharkongor, IAS, this mandate spans 29 Scheduled Employments (including Agriculture, Construction, and Shops) and factors in the revised Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA). Under the updated framework, the all-inclusive daily rates are structured as Unskilled Labour at ₹555/day, Semi-skilled at ₹598/day, Skilled at ₹640/day, and Highly-skilled at ₹682/day. Enforcing a standard 8-hour workday, these inflation-adjusted rates will continue to undergo bi-annual CPI-linked updates to ensure strict statutory compliance.
