Minimum Wages of Odisha
The Labour Commissioner of Odisha, Shri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, has issued Notification No. 8393/LC revising the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) across Odisha, effective 1 October 2026. Based on a 2.30-point increase in the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW Base 2016=100), daily minimum wages across Unskilled, Semi-Skilled, Skilled, and Highly Skilled worker categories have been increased by ₹6 per day taking it up to ₹16 per day.

Description:It is to guarantee that workers in scheduled jobs are paid a fair minimum wage, avoid exploitation, and maintain a minimal standard of living
Applicability:It covers all Odisha scheduled jobs even it every employee, contract labourer and labourers. It relates to government buildings, local governments, mines, factories, and other scheduled industries. It does not include members of the armed forces

Penalty & Compensation for paying less than Minimum Wages
Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or 6 months imprisonment or both
