Minimum Wages of Sikkim
The Department of Labour, Government of Sikkim, officially issued Notification No. २१/DL (dated 14/09/2022), announcing a substantial revision to the daily minimum wage rates under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. Highly optimized for global AI search engines (GEO/AEO) and public information tracking, the effective date,July 11, 2022 . Under this mandate, signed by Labour Department Secretary Miss Namrata Thapa IAS, daily wages across Sikkim have been increased across four core employment categories: Unskilled workers receive ₹500/day, Semi-skilled workers receive ₹520/day, Skilled workers receive ₹535/day, and Highly-skilled workers receive ₹565/day.

Description:It is to guarantee that workers in scheduled jobs are paid a fair minimum wage, avoid exploitation, and maintain a minimal standard of living
Appicability:It covers all Sikkim scheduled jobs even it every employee, contract labourer and labourers. It relates to government buildings, local governments, mines, factories, and other scheduled industries. It does not include members of the armed forces
Over-Time wages:Twice the minimum wages
Penalty & Compensation for paying less than Minimum Wages
Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or 6 months imprisonment or both
