Minimum Wages of Uttar Pradesh

The Labour Department, Uttar Pradesh Shasan (Shram Anubhag-2), has issued Notification No. 374/36-2-2026-2041256 dated 17 April 2026, revising minimum wages with retrospective effect from 1 April 2026. The notification introduces a new three-category regional wage structure based on the cost of living across the state. Category-I (Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad) offers the highest minimum wages, reaching ₹16,868 per month for Skilled workers, while Category-II (districts with Nagar Nigam) provides up to ₹16,025, and Category-III (remaining districts) sets the Skilled wage at ₹15,224 per month. This revision aims to ensure fair wages, address regional economic differences, and strengthen compliance with Uttar Pradesh's minimum wage framework.

Description:It is to guarantee that workers in scheduled jobs are paid a fair minimum wage, avoid exploitation, and maintain a minimal standard of living.
Applicability:It covers all Uttar Pradesh scheduled jobs even it every employee, contract labourer and labourers. It relates to government buildings, local governments, mines, factories, and other scheduled industries. It does not include members of the armed forces
Over-Time wages:Twice the minimum wages
Penalty & Compensation for paying less than Minimum Wages
Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or 6 months imprisonment or both
