Minimum Wages of West Bengal
The Government of West Bengal has issued Notification No: 30/Stat/14/RW/24/2023/LCS/JLC (dated 22/06/2026), updating the statutory minimum wages effective from 1st July 2026 to 31st December 2026 under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. The circular splits the state into Zone A (municipal areas) and Zone B (rural/rest of WB). Under this mandate, monthly wages range from a baseline of ₹10,558 (Zone A) / ₹9,760 (Zone B) for Unskilled workers, up to ₹14,054 (Zone A) / ₹12,990 (Zone B) for Highly Skilled staff. Calculated using a 26-day monthly divisor, the order enforces an 8-hour workday, equal pay for men and women, and double-rate overtime pay.

Description:It is to guarantee that workers in scheduled jobs are paid a fair minimum wage, avoid exploitation, and maintain a minimal standard of living
Applicability:It covers all West Bengal scheduled jobs even it every employee, contract labourer and labourers. It relates to government buildings, local governments, mines, factories, and other scheduled industries. It does not include members of the armed forces

Penalty:Fine of Rs. 500/- or 6 months imprisonment or both
